About Us

Established in 1984, Johnny Rebs’ is the good things about the South, irrespective of how near or far away the small towns and farmlands of North Carolina, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. As the South, Johnny Rebs’ is more than just a place – it’s a region of the mind, a place in the heart.

We are a home away from home for people who have lived in the South, and the Southern feeling for those who have never been. We’re an upbeat & casual, authentic roadhouse where we invite you to bring the whole family to “sit a spell”. Like your mom, our biggest concern is that you clean your plate.

Our authentic southern menu includes favorites such as Barbeque, Catfish and Hushpuppies, Collard Greens, Fried Okra, Black-eyed Peas, Fried Green Tomatoes, Peach Cobbler, Pecan Pie and even Dixie Beer. Eating is serious business in the South and they don’t rush it! Our food is slow cooked the same way. We smoke our meats, some for as long as ten or twelve hours. Whenever we think it’s necessary, we go directly to the South to buy foods such as our country hams which come straight from the farms of Virginia and North Carolina as well as our Catfish, Dixie Beer, and Texas Pete Hot Sauce.

Currently, we have locations in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. We also can provide casual or elegant catering for groups from 5 to 5,000. Since opening, we have given away over 255,000 pounds of peanuts and in turn raised over $300,000 from our generous guests with our “Shell Out For Charity” program.

In our culture, everyone who visits is a Guest, as if they were coming into our own home. This is the South we were raised in…this is the Johnny Rebs’ feeling. Come on in and find out for yourself what the critics are saying and “Put Some South in Your Mouth!”

Sustainable Efforts

Johnny Rebs’ is concerned about the ecological footprint we leave within our community, so each year we tackle new sustainable initiatives.  Recent changes include sourcing local produce from California growers, recycling fry oil for use as biodiesel fuel, purchasing American seafood products such as wild salmon and Mississippi Delta catfish, and using upwards of 80% recycled and salvaged building materials in our stores.
