Family Peach Cobbler (feeds 4-6)
$0
Peach cobbler is an old time favorite dessert of people of all ages. We start with a mixture of sliced peaches with syrup, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, ginger, sugar and other spices and top it with biscuit dough and cinnamon. This dessert is rich and at its best served heated a la mode.
* A bite of culture: Peaches were first brought to the United States by the colonists who settled Virginia. They rapidly spread and became an important part of Southern life. Surprisingly, Georgia ("the Peach State") agriculture is based not on peaches, but on cotton and peanuts.
* A bit of history: Cobbler was first developed as a way to use up leftover biscuit dough in the South. It is Johnny Rebs' most popular dessert, served hot.
